Benign breast tumors are non-cancerous growths that, while sometimes palpable as concerning lumps, do not spread to other parts of the body and are not life-threatening.
The most common types include fibroadenomas, which usually feel firm, smooth, and rubbery, and breast cysts, which are fluid-filled sacs that can fluctuate in size and tenderness with your menstrual cycle. While finding any new lump can understandably cause anxiety, a thorough clinical evaluation and breast imaging can successfully distinguish a benign growth from a malignant one.
